I have many family members that have served in the military, including my husband, Dave and father. One of my best memories of Memorial Day is going to our local Memorial Day parade every year to show our respect for those who have fallen protecting our country. Dave, David and I would get up early , have breakfast and get ready to get a seat along the parade route.
Here are some scrapbook pages from a Memorial Day parade we attended back in 2001. David would have been 8 years old (he's 25 now). We let him wear Dave's dress blue Navy shirt that day.
To commemorate Memorial day and our memories of attending parades together, I thought that I would make a card using Stampin' Up's new stamp set , A Good Man (available June 4, 2019). It is the first time that I have used a silhouette style stamp and I am in love with this style now! I was able to coordinate the father and son's clothes into something that my husband and son would wear to a parade.
How did I do this? First, I used watercolor paper. Then I stamped the image with Black Memento Ink .
Then I was able to use a water filled Aqua Painter pen, I used Stampin' Up's ink's to color the clothes and also the background.
I tried a different technique for the child's t shirt. I stamped the image on a piece of Real Red card stock and then cut the shirt out. I then adhered that on top of the other image. I like how the child looks a little larger in the image, don't you?
I added the sentiment with the Story label and used a bit of linen thread to tie it all together. I really love this card!
